PLAYLIST ALL SONGS ON SPOTIFY
This is tenth track from my quirky song book, once a month I release a music track and video, This is No:10 - It’s all about my childhood, looking back at great times, “in days of young, when life was fun, and anything could be”.
It tells the story of growing up, climbing trees, riding bikes, coming home with sore knees, collecting bugs in jars, making go-carts etc, all the things that make childhood great.
It’s looking back at carefree times, when summer seemed so long, all the things we did when we were kids, those really were the days!
It basically tells of all the things I enjoyed doing as a kid, from dressing up as pirates to playing with kites, trains, planes and going on rides at the fun fair, swimming in the river and the sea which I loved to do, I guess it is the story of my life as a child.
The video uses all archive footage, I wanted to give it a looking back through time feel which really comes across in the footage I used. It shows the old fairground rides and children playing hopscotch in the streets and climbing trees, all the things health and safety would not allow these days, including playing in old cars and on rope swings.
The style of this one is still quirky but it is totally different from all the others as this one is what I would musically call a club/dance track, it is a bit like the track from Fatboy Slim - Praise You, it has that sound to it, possibly due to the synths I used for it.
This one is very dance mix orientated and would suit being played in clubs. It is quite a fast track but still has my trademark quirky pop style in there.
I am pleased with the end result as I did try quite a few mixes before I settled with this one.
It is nostalgia and fun, I hope it brings back happy memories for you when you listen to it.
And yes, if you look up the single on the streaming platforms, that is me as a child on the cover !
Thanks for listening, please consume my music !

Swam across the river, swimming in the sea
In days of young when life was fun and anything could be
Camping in the garden, climbing apple trees
Roller skates and riding bikes, we came home with sore knees
Those were the days, those were the days
Those were the days and now they’re in the past
The things we did when we were kids have disappeared so fast
Those were the days when summer seemed so long
The things we did when we were kids
Have disappeared long gone
Go-carts made from boxes, left footprints in the sand
Collecting cars and bugs in jars, and running hand in hand
Then as we get older, time is passing by
Life has gone from old to young in the blinking of an eye
Those were the days, those were the days
Those were the days and now they’re in the past
The things we did when we were kids have disappeared so fast
Those were the days when summer seemed so long
The things we did when we were kids
Have disappeared long gone
Dressing up as pirates, hoisting up the mast
Kites and planes our clothes had stains
The future’s now the past
Ice cream vans and fairgrounds, picnics in the sun
Parks and rides with water slides, when we were very young
Those were the days, those were the days
Those were the days and now they’re in the past
The things we did when we were kids
Have disappeared so fast
Those were the days and now they’re in the past
The things we did when we were kids
Have disappeared so fast
Those were the days when summer seemed so long
The things we did when we were kids
Have disappeared long gone
Those were the days and now they’re in the past
The things we did when we were kids
Have disappeared so fast
Those were the days
Those were the days
Those were the days
Those were the days
Those were the days and now they’re in the past
The things we did when we were kids
Have disappeared so fast
Those were the days when summer seemed so long
Those were the days
Those were the days
Those were the days when summer seemed so long
The things we did when we were kids
Have disappeared long gone
Those were the days and now they’re in the past
Those were the days
Those were the days
Those were the days and now they’re in the past
The things we did when we were kids have disappeared so fast
